From bedside care to days spent in my bed.
A health care nurse’s predicament from a work related injury
“For a few decades, I had relished a nursing career at the bedside, as a home healthcare nurse and as a traveling nurse. A few years ago, my lucrative career as a critical care nurse came to screeching halt following a hospital injury at the hands of a patient. I had never suffered any orthopedic injuries even through my many years as a competitive high school athlete involved in many sporting endeavors: from horseback riding, field hockey and track races, to shot put & javelin, to long & high jump. I was an all-star athlete and a sports captain so my idea of discomfort was the occasion sprain or muscle fatigue. Ice packs and a little rest and I was back to more sports, much sooner than later. So, I did not take this injury seriously at thinking a few weeks and back to work.
I followed my doctors initial plan of care: physical therapy and total rest from work. Well, a few weeks in and worsening symptoms coupled with extremely limited mobility and constricted range of motion, an MRI was ordered and prompt surgery for multiple muscle and ligament tears throughout my shoulder. My knee injury took a back seat although not my tendency to fall. I only ventured to therapy and appointments. Three orthopedic surgeries in two years (shoulder and knee), tons of physical therapy, pain unmanaged by pain medication and the resulting sleepless days and nights, poor appetite, gastric issues from the side effects from daily anti inflammatories, altered ability to self care followed by total lack of drive and lastly plain frustration, exhaustion and depression. I was in a pain, safety, emotional, health and nutritional crisis. All I could do was unsuccessfully try to sleep throughout this nightmare.
Zeal was an unexpected introduction into my life, and in fact I initially declined to even consider or try it for myself. I am glad I finally did. What an emotional and nutritional turn around in under 2 weeks.
My mood, mobility, range of motion and appetite were remarkably improved in a mear 3 weeks of twice daily Zeal.
The most incredible and noteworthy experience was the relief from pain and my new found ability to tolerate activities with my new found improved energy level and much better sleep. My injuries are a life term reality of discomfort and joint issues, but at least I now have some semblance to a normal where I can care for myself and enjoy a few non taxing outdoors activities. My active lifestyle was greatly impacted by the injury but now I can participate in other more rewarding ways.
There are no words to adequately describe my appreciation and respect for Zeal, the only all in one, all natural supplement that gave me back my dignity, the freedom from pain and the option to venture far from my bed at leisure.
I am back to living with purpose because I have a new lease on my life.”
